Golden at Heart

The Golden gang is delighted to share their home and hearts with Hagrid, Newman, Millie, Maverick, Twist, Mistletoe, Matilda, Cooter, Slider, Snickers and Giggles  !
Each and every one of these guys is a cherished family member, to whom we are hopelessly devoted.

Mortimer, Montel & Millie

Mortimer (tortiseshell)  is our original cat, tough as nails with strangers yet sweet as can be with those she knows.  Unfortunetly Mortimer went missing in the fall of 2005.  We are still hopeful that she took up residence in someone elses home and is giving them as much pleasure as she brought to us.  Montel is a typical orange tabby cat, ridiculously affectionate and calm.  Sadly, a tragic accident robbed us of Montel in late November 2003...but he is forever in our hearts.  Millie is our great hunter - we never have to worry about wayward socks attacking us while we sleep - Millie has pretty much "killed" all our socks.  Funny, most people have problems with dogs eating their socks...

Maverick

Adopting Maverick was a bit of an impulse.  We had never seen a cat with markings like his (the picture does not do him any justice...).  We've never regretted the decision once.  He is a beautiful, bold and big cat that spends most of his time playing with the puppies.

Snickers (Umbrella Cockatoo)

Snickers is a funny chap who'll talk your ear off given the opportunity!  Funny enough, his favorite phrase is "Hello Puppy!"  He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle.

Twist

When she was just a kitten, Twist gave us a real scare.  She was a stray kitten that had been hanging around for about a week.  One night, we found her playing with a dead bat in the front porch .  The bat tested positive for Rabies and Twist was too young to have been vaccinated.  We opted for the six-month quarantine; after all, she had "saved" us all from the bat that could have bitten anyone in the house.  Thankfully, Twist must be a skillful hunter as she never did get sick.

Hagrid

Coffeycove's Gamekeeper

Now really, who could resist a face like this?!?  Hagrid is awfully sweet and wonderfully smart.  Like his Harry Potter namesake, we feel Hagrid will be a loyal and brave companion... oh, and very, very large; he's a Newfoundland.  Many thanks to Patricia and Mike Coffey of Coffeycove Newfoundlands for sharing this wonderful fellow.  We look forward to trying our hand with a different breed in the show ring!

Mistletoe

"Toes" came to be with our family right around, you guessed it Christmas!  He is an absolute delight, and even though he arrived as a stray, from the day he came he's acted as though he's lived here his whole life!

Matilda

Matilda is our newest feline member of the household.  Full of antics and fun, there is never a dull moment when this kitten is in the room!

"Giggles" & "Wascal"

Guinea pigs are supposed to be quiet, unassuming pets.  Giggles must have missed the lecture on being quiet!  He serenades us with excited squeals and squeaks every time we enter the room.  Wascal is the rabbit with an attitude...I dare you to try and get her morning apple away from her...

We've got dogs, cats, birds and a guinea pig...why not turtles and fish???  Seen above are Slider and Cooter (on right) a pair of  young aquatic turtles.  Below our 75 gallon aquarium is considered home to a small assortment of Goldfish.

Newman

A special thanks to Jody Paquette for allowing us the privilege to share our home and hearts with this magnificent little guy.  Newman is truly a delight.  Many people had told us that once we owned a Whippet we would never be without one...it hasn't been very long but I am already starting to realize how right they were.
